Culinary Tip #1

Know what a good flavor compliment to chocolate is? Coffee!! Mocha anyone? When making a chocolatey recipe, substitute any liquid called for with coffee, espresso or kahlua. Some local supermarkets carry instant espresso powder which you could add to your chocolate recipe for a boost of flavor. Today Tatiana and I baked brownies. We took a simple boxed brownie mixed from Aldi and substituted the water for instant espresso plus added a half bag of gourmet chocolate chips. An inexpensive way to go from cheap to gourmet!
