Reader Poll

Here's another fun reader poll, since it seemed many people chimed in on the last one:

Do you continue to patronize a restaurant/store where you have received bad service?

Many of you know I'm a serious kind of a food snob, so if the food was bad {or even only decent}, I wouldn't go back again. Recently the family ate at a corporate-owned neighborhood bar & grill type franchise. I have been to this restaurant a bazillion times. I *love* the food. I have had bad luck with the service though. Seemed really slow this time...on a rainy Tuesday night! {I'm sure the fact that I felt like I could pass out from hunger at any moment didn't help!} I have worked many customer service related jobs {restaurant server being one of them} and have really high standards when it comes to customer service. There is one Woodstock restaurant that after receiving bad service there, we have never gone back. It's a shame too, since Woodstock isn't exactly overflowing in the restaurant department. Anywho, back to my original question.....

We go out so rarely that if we get bad service or food...we really don't go back.

BUT with that being said...if I went to the Olive Garden or Pablo's and got bad service I would probably still go! For me...it does depend on the food primarily.

We don't go out either but if we do we live by the baseball motto "Three strikes and you're out." Jori

I usually like to give the establishment two chances. Nothing makes me more upset than poor customer service.
We were at a restaurant one night when my food came out cold and I said something. By time they came back with my food, everyone else had finished eating. I was not happy at all. The manager got an earful from me.

We go out often, about twice a month. There are three places that I would go back if the food or service was bad - Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and Pablo's. But, any other place and we probably wouldn't go there for a year or so. We kept having terrible service and not so good food at Apple Bee's and didn't go there for more than a year. So, Bec, if you went to someones house and the food wasn't up to your standards would you go bacK? :-)

Ha!!!!!! I nearly dropped the baby reading that one Beth! And what standards are you looking for in a friends cooking?

It is actually kinda funny because sometimes I wonder if people don't invite us over for dinner more often because they don't know what to cook for me??!! I eat normal stuff just like everyone else, although I also enjoy what I consider gourmet food. I make spaghetti & tacos & frozen pizzas & hamburgers like the rest of ya'll. Beth, maybe I would use the baseball motto "Three strikes and you're out!" LOL! Too funny!!

We go out often and order out often. I guess as a manager of a retail store I feel it is important to provide feedback when I get bad service...I either tell the wait staff directly or tell the manager. The resturant will ususally correct the issue, whether it is the food or the service. I also let the wait staff know our needs upfront, if we are in a hurry or if we are extra hungry we order an appitizer. This really helps us have a good experience. I have to agree the food is the dominating factor on if we go back...odds are the server is different on different trips...I also take note of extremely good service we get and may even ask for the same server on our next trip back. My hubby is a really good tipper when we get good service as much as 50% of the bill. We have even had the waitress follow us out and tell us "we made her night". That makes us feel good.

You ask people for their comments and then when you dont like it you delete them. How far is that???? You ask for the truth but when someone gives you the truth and you cant handel it you get ride of it so you dont have to look at it. Grow up.

I honestly don't even remember why I deleted those comments. If you have read for any length of time, you will see that there have been some very heated discussions full of opinions that differed from mine that I never deleted. I do want to keep things as "real" as possible, which is why I don't moderate comments, although that is my prerogative. The only time I delete comments is if they use foul language or are blatantly disrespectful/inappropriate for the discussion at hand. Also, sometimes the comment is spam, so I delete that as well.

There is no need for name-calling. I have not stooped to that level. If you don't appreciate the conversations here, stop reading.

Cheers!
